Out of Darkness (Ur mörkret)
Out of Darkness (Ur mörkret) is a Swedish horror film directed by Philip da Silva, with a screenplay by Jimmy Nivrén Olsson. The film is notable for being shot largely in darkness within nature reserves and the Sala Silver Mine. It follows park ranger Angelica and dog handler Viktor in their search for a missing woman. Despite a very limited budget, the film was later nominated for three Guldbagge Awards (Sweden’s official film awards).
With modest resources and a focused scope, Gul PR was commissioned to manage the PR efforts ahead of the film’s theatrical release. Our strategy centered on the film’s unique production conditions (filming in darkness), its genre, and the dedication of the cast.
The result of this intensive PR work was a major media impact, despite the small budget. The film generated interviews across several of Sweden’s largest media outlets in TV, radio, and print, laying the foundation for a successful premiere. The film went on to be nominated for three Guldbagge Awards: Best Cinematography, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Original Score.
